Equity Initiative Awards 2022

Congratulations to the winners of our Equity Initiative Awards for Health Equity Week 2022! We had many amazing abstract submissions and were thrilled to choose 1 winner for each of the 4 categories (Quality Improvement, Innovation in Medical Education, Research, and Community Engagement) and 2 overall winners.

The first overall abstract winner is “TWICE AS HARD: The Stories of Black Women Who Fought to Become Physicians from the Civil War to the 21st Century,” by Jasmine Brown, MD Candidate. Her book on the subject will be available January 2023 on Amazon and at bookstores!

The second overall abstract winner is “Born Equal? A Case Series to Support Equity in Newborn Care,” by Kathryn Paul MD, Daria Murosko MD, Diana Montoya-Williams MD, and Joanna Parga-Belinkie MD. Their case series was accepted for publication in a high impact neonatology journal (Neoreviews, American Academy of Pediatrics). Their series will be published several times a year, and will be able to have nation-wide influence.
